The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 4th at 6:30PM in ECCR 245. We will host a guest speaker who has had a very interesting career in aviation and looks forward to sharing his most exciting "airplane stories."  For those of you who are interested in having a career in aviation, we strongly recommend attending this meeting!  Also, as always, there will be FREE PIZZA and the opportunity to win a FREE FLIGHT around Boulder with a Certified Flight Instructor!

We are excited to announce that Virgin America Pilot Matt Heerema will be our guest speaker.  Matt got interested in flying through his father who was a defense contractor and did a lot of work with NASA. He was able to go to lunch with a shuttle commander and from there he was hooked. Matt started flying in 1992 in Ann Arbor, MI.  He received his BS degree from Western Michigan University for Aviation Operations and Maintenance.  He was on the precision flight team, which is part of the National Intercollegiate Flying Association.  After this, he flew parachute jumpers in c-182 and twin otter.  He was a flight instructor and accumulated over 1100 hours in a little under three years.  He then flew freight in a beech 18 with round engines for about a month.

Matt got an internship flying a King-Air 350 for Masco Corp. out of Detroit Metro.  Next, he went to the airlines.  He started in a Beech 1900 for Skyway Airlines and then flew a Do-328 in the mountains for Air Wisconsin. Matt worked his way up to fly the RJ and ended up instructing in the RJ for about two years.  From there he moved on to work for Air Wisconsin for Frontier in 2007.  In 2011 Matt continued his career with Virgin America.
